Winners named in Presidential Art Exhibition

Kiyomi Knox, Sara Dixon, and Michelle Peters were the winners in Clarion University’s 2008 Presidential Are Exhibition held this month in University Gallery, Carlson Library. The show is an opportunity for all art students and non-art majors to exhibit their artwork in a professional setting.

Knox received a $100 prize donated by Clarion University President Joseph Grunenwald. Kiyomi Knox, sophomore biology major, is a daughter of Greg Knox of Oil City and is a graduate of Rocky Grove High School. She entered a plaster/q-tips and ivy work, “Birth MW.”

Dixon received a $50 gift card from Utrecht Art Supplies. Dixon, a senior art major, is a daughter of Nancy Dixon of Glenshaw and is a graduate of Shaler Area High School. She entered an acrylic paint, ink, and gesso work, “City.”

Peters received a $25 gift card from Utrecht Art Supplies. Peters, a senior art major, is a daughter of Diane Minore of Meadville and is a graduate of Meadville High School. She entered two oil paintings, “Subway” and “M.”

Other entrants to the exhibition:

Amanda Frost, a junior political science major, from Knox and a graduate of Clarion-Limestone High School. She entered four photographs, “Virginia”, “Scotland” and two untitled.

Christopher Friedrick, a junior art major, a son of Rosemary Friedrick of Bethel Park and a graduate of Bethel Park High School. He entered a pogo stick, concrete, wood, foam and a mixed media, “Skin Painting.”

Ashley Evanick, a senior art major, a daughter of Joseph Evanick of Homer City and a graduate of Homer Center High School. She entered an oil painting, “BARF-A-RAMA-NIC-RIC” and a mixed media work,” City.”

Kelli Grill, a junior art major, a daughter of Elizabeth Grill of Reynoldsville and a graduate of DuBois Central Catholic High School. She entered a graphite/colored pencil work, “Mystery Woman” and graphite work, “The Reach.”

Gina Fazenbaker, a junior art major, a daughter of David and Lynn Fazenbaker of Addison and a graduate of Turkeyfoot Valley Area High School. She entered an acrylic, and a graphite/colored pencil work, “Sisters.”

Anthony Stewart, a sophomore library science major, from Clarion and a graduate of Clarion High School. He entered two photography and edits, “Hope” and “Freedom”, and a photograph and wine, “Fade”

Rachel DiBenedetto, a senior art major, from Pittsburgh and a graduate of Fox Chapel High School. She entered two oil paintings, “Self Portrait” and “Natalie on Green.”

Daniel Perryman, a senior art major, a son of Kathleen Thomas of Ridgway and a graduate of Ridgway Area High School. He entered a mixed media work, “We’ll Be Right Back.”

Emily Byrtus, a sophomore art major, a daughter of Sally Byrtus of Waterford and a graduate of Fort LeBoeuf High School. She entered two oil paintings, “Response to State of Union Address” and “I Take Myself Very Seriously”; a colored pencil drawing, “Peacock”; and two digital vexels, “DS Addict” and “Worth the Wait.”

Gary Smith, a senior art major, a son of Janice Smith of Harrisburg and a graduate of Susquehanna Township High School. He entered a photograph and edit, “Handsome Women.”

Danielle Logue, a freshmen psychology major, a daughter of Georgette Clark of Franklin and a graduate of Franklin High School. She entered a untitled mixed media work.

Ashley Chambers, a sophomore art major, a daughter of Kimberly Chambers of New Castle and a graduate of New Castle High School. She entered an oil pastel, “Afghanistan 1985.”

Seth Snyder, a senior art major, a son of Alan Snyder of Fairmount City and a graduate of Redbank Valley High School. He entered two pencil drawings, “Wayne and John” and “A Man’s Daydream”; an oil painting, “Janja weed”; and an ink pencil and charcoal drawing, “Dataru.”

Megan Willis, a junior art major, a daughter of Ellen Cox of Blue Ridge Summit and a graduate of Waynesboro High School. She entered a graphite/color pencil drawing, “The Archaic Lampshade.”

Shannon Bork, a junior art major, a daughter of Debbie Leithner of Ridgway and a graduate of Elk County Catholic High School. She entered two oil paintings, “Koi Autumn” and one untitled.

Von Winger, a senior English major, a son of Jack Winger of Shippenville and a graduate of Oil City High School. He entered a plaster of pans, “Relief from a Brubeck Album” and a ceramic, “Rose for Catherine the Great.”

Fred Clark, a sophomore art major, a son of Margaret Clark of Brookville and a graduate of Brookville High School. He entered a ceramic, steel and resin work, “The Living Christ”; a steel, wood and marble work, “Cross with Crutch”; and a vessel, “Blood of Christ.”

Elonda Salvatore, a senior art major, a daughter of Patricia Salvatore of Grand Valley and a graduate of Titusville High School. She entered two paper/paint works, “Rock” and “Bronze.”

Claire Fiorelli, a sophomore art major, a daughter of Marybeth Fiorelli of Union City and a graduate of Union City Area High School. She entered a ceramic.
