Students presenting at Economic Development Symposium

Presentations will continue this week in Clarion University’s Economic Development Symposium, a collection of presentations put together by the students of Economics 363. The class is taught by Dr. Sandra Trejos, associate professor of economics.

The presentations in room 201 of Still Hall are free and open to the public. Presenting this week are:

April 29:

12:45 p.m. –Julia Seitz, “The Effectiveness of Aid. An Analysis of the Determinants of Foreign Aid and Their Impact on Growth.” Seitz, a freshman economics major, is an international student from Germany.

1 p.m. – Renee Fry, “Education Enrollment in Ethiopia.” Fry, a senior accounting major, resides in Dayton with her husband, Matthew, and is a graduate of Apollo-Ridge High School.

1:15 p.m. – Kris Snyder, “Economic Freedom and Human Development. An Empirical Cross Country Study.” Snyder, a senior economics major, is a son of Jane Snyder of Clover and is a graduate of Blackhawk High School.

1:30 p.m. – Ryan Hart and Danielle Dudzenski, “Child Labor in the Philippines and Poverty.”

Hart, a senior business management major, is a son of Charles and Jeanne Hart of Cochranton and is a graduate of Cochranton High School.

Dudzenski, a junior finance major, is a daughter of Michael and Margaret Dudzenski of Latrobe and is a graduate of Greater Latrobe High School.

May 1:

12:30 p.m. –Linda Carbaugh, “The Law of the Sea: Geographical and Economic Implications.” Carbaugh, a senior real estate major, is a daughter of Norma Gaw of Kennerdell and is a graduate of Cranberry High School.

12:45 p.m. – Nicolas Combe, “Does Water Bring Development or Does Development Bring Water? How Can Brazil Take Advantage of its Natural Skills?” Combe, a freshman finance major, is a son of Didier Combe of Saint Aubin De Medoc, France.

1 p.m. – Vince Uhrinek, “Urbanization in China.” Uhrinek, a junior economics major, is a son of Barbara Ginns of West Grove and is a graduate of Avon Grove High School.

1:15 p.m. – Kelly DeAugustino, “Shaken, Splashed, Blown Away and Dried Up: The Economic Effects of natural Disasters on Developing Countries.” DeAugustino, a junior accounting major, is from DuBois and is a graduate of North Allegheny High School.

1:30 p. m. – Matt Swisher, “Economic Freedom, Prosperity and Poverty in the Developing World. What Does Economic Freedom mean to less Developed Countries?” Swisher, a senior economics major, resides in DuBois with is wife, Jessica, and is a graduate of DuBois High School.

Lea Morrissey, “Women and Politics in Sub-Saharan Africa.” Morrissey, a senior marketing major, is a daughter of Cheryl Morrissey of Tyrone and is a graduate of Tyrone High School.

Richard Martin, “Growth and the Environment/Population.” Martin, a junior international business major, is from Graysville and is a graduate of West Greene High School.

Amrita Shinde, “Effects of Mergers and Acquisitions in India.” Shinde, a senior international business major, is a daughter of Arvind Shinde of Navi Mambai, India,.

Fadzai Mudzimba and Denise Simens, “Effects of Health on the Economic Development in Africa.”

Mudzimba, a junior international business major, is from Brussells, Belgium.

Simens, a junior mass media arts, journalism, and communication studies major, is a daughter of Barbara Simens of Hollister, Calif., and is a graduate of San Benito High School.

Paola Letizia, “Poverty and Education in Latin America.” Letizia, a senior international business major, is a daughter of Marina Doyle of Pittsburgh and is a graduate of Pine-Richland High School.

Joshua Mutua, “Foreign Aid to Sub-Saharan Africa and Its Effect on Development.” Mutua, a senior international business major, is from Kenya.

Gilfillan, a junior business/economics major, is a son of Maryann White of Rimersburg and is a graduate of the Penn Cyber Charter School.
