Adams presents video at conference Bill Adams, assistant professor of mass media arts, journalism and communication studies at Clarion University, presented the video, “Hiking the East Coast Trail” at the Pennsylvania Canadian Studies Consortium’s annual conference, hosted this year at Penn State University. The 16 minute video documentary details Newfoundland’s East Coast Trail which is a 540 kilometer hiking experience taking hikers to the outermost reaches of North America. The trail provides hikers with a special blend of wilderness adventure, outstanding natural beauty, wildlife, history and cultural contacts. This heritage trail is being developed and maintained by the East Coast Trail Association, a member-driven, volunteer based, organization formed in 1994 with the mission to develop, maintain and operate the East Coast Trail. The video details the origins and operating principles of the organization, interviews hikers and visualizes the experience of the trail to share the experience and heritage of the trail. The work was co-produced by Dr. Arthur H. Barlow, Clarion University professor emeritus, who provided the narrative and script while Adams shot and edited the video. This is the fourth video production by Adams and Barlow for the PACSC. |
