Construction update 5-5

The Clarion University Office of Finance and Administration has provided an update on the major construction projects underway at Clarion University.

Campbell Hall Demolition and South Campus Parking Lot

The contractor began to demobilize last week moving one large excavator off-site Friday with the second excavator expected to be hauled away by Tuesday. The demolition phase of the project will end with removal of the construction fence.

Dining Hall

Block and brick installation on the west wall continued last week. The black screen protecting brick work on the building’s north side has now been removed allowing a look at the finished look of the building absent the windows. Coordination between contractors has made progress on the building’s interior rapid including significant installation of the HVAC system. Cement has been poured for construction of the coffee-house facilities.

Pedestrian/vehicular traffic and safety: While the road between Carrier and the new dining hall is now open, there continues to be work on the roof and upper floors near sidewalks and roads. Construction vehicles will also be entering and leaving the job site to transport materials. Caution should be used near the jobsite.

Science-Technology Building

Installation continued on all fronts on the building. Progress is most evident on the installation of the exterior framing. Preparation work necessary for the repaving of Davis roadway work continued.

Pedestrian/vehicular traffic and safety: Trenching is being used to allow workers to connect electric, sewer, water and communications lines to the site. Use extra care around excavation and normal pedestrian traffic paths near this site.

On-Campus Residences

Continued favorable weather conditions allowed the installation of roof edging on Building #1. Interior work in both buildings continued.

Pedestrian/vehicular traffic and safety: Trenching has been dug in the area of both sites and some roads may be temporarily blocked to access the job or utilities. Use extra care around excavation and normal pedestrian traffic pats near this site.

Other Pedestrian/Vehicular Traffic And Safety Issues:

Orientation will be using Lot H and Lot 6 for parking each Fridays throughout the spring and summer. Employees currently parking in Lot H should park in Lot 5 on Friday. Overall parking in Lots 5 and 6 will be limited on Friday.
