Phi Eta Sigma awards scholarships

The Scholarship Committee for the Clarion University Chapter of Phi Eta Sigma Freshman Honor Society has announced Laurie Grieshober and Deserie Vendetti as scholarship recipients for the 20

Both students have an outstanding Q.P.A. and have been involved in Phi Eta Sigma’s Service Project, “Volunteer Tutoring of Elementary and High School Students.”

Grieshober, a sophomore mathematics major with a physic minor, was awarded the Phi Eta Sigma Foundation Scholarship in the amount of $1,050. Grieshober, who is also involved in the Honors Program, is a daughter of Dave and Cindy Grieshober of Erie and is a graduate of McDowell High School.

Vendetti, a senior elementary education major, was selected to receive the Phi Eta Sigma Dr. Donald A. Nair Scholarship in the amount of $1,000. Vendetti, who is also a member of the Golden Eagles Marching Band, is a daughter of Michael Vendetti III of Gettysburg and is a graduate of Gettysburg High School.

Both scholarships are offered to Clarion University students each year. Applicants must be a member of Phi Eta Sigma Freshman Honor Society, which requires a minimum 3.5 QPA after a student’s first or second semester as a freshman. Selection for the scholarships is based on academic record, involvement in Phi Eta Sigma, and participation in extracurricular activities.
